Every time i have been to this area I lose money. First time mugged on las Ramblas, second time ripped off in bar and now ripped off by shuttle bus company to tune if euros. I fell for the "you caught the wrong cab" scam when the shuttle bus failed to turn up. My advice. Avoid region. Great trip, we stayed this summer on the Costa Brava and visit several cities have the costa brava, beautiful landscapes, the sea is transparent blue and the many activities proposed in cities used to occupy the children, perfect to relax and enjoy.
I went to the Costa daurada last summer and they have such beautiful beaches there. But not only they have beaches, but cultural and roman history, very interesting to see.
When we went with my family we had a great trip seeing millenary cultural evolution We found the baches to be beautifully clean as described and with shallow water just the right temperature. Stayed in Calafell Segur. This is not the place for teenagers or those looking for some nightlife.
The whole place was geared up for families with small children and very little else. We were the only English tourists in the place which was good in a way as it seemed like a very authentic, Spanish holiday resort.
Also had great difficulty with the Catalonian language our Spanish was just about passable with phrase book and Catalonians not particularly helpful. Staff spoke excellent English and served up a fantastically good value set menu of Catalan food starting with cocktails.
Wine was included in price and they gave us two bottles between three of us. Here you will find fishing villages like Altafulla or Torredembarra , which are perfect for resting and relaxing. More active options can be found alongside them, in the tourist resorts where leisure revolves around the beach. Windsurfing, paddleboarding and boat trips along the Costa Dorada are just some of the attractions you will find here.
If you are seeking a more cultural experience, be sure to stop off in Tarragona. Experience the breathtaking sunsets at the Ebro Delta , a natural park made up of rice fields and wetlands, creating a unique landscape where water once again is the main feature.
The Costa Dorada has more attractions apart from its beaches. Cultural getaways to the inland areas, such as the village of Montblanc , await you. This charming medieval village is home to Poblet monastery, an architectural jewel that was also the pantheon of several kings of Aragon, and which will fascinate anyone interested in history.
These are impressive towers several metres tall which are formed by people. It is an exercise of coordination and concentration, and you can see them throughout the region, especially in the village of Valls. Any trip to the Costa Dorada would be incomplete without a trip to the kitchen.
All this paired with the wines that the province of Tarragona offers, with up to six different denominations of origin, leaving you with an unforgettable taste in your mouth. Best Negresco Hotel.
